Dance
The USA Collegiate Dance Championships will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center on March 18th and 19th of 2012. The SDSU Dance Team will be competing in Division 1 Open and Division 1 Hip Hop for a 4 year college. The 2010-2011 team competed in Anaheim at the USA Collegiate Dance Championships in February and won two national titles; 1st overall for Division I 4-year college hip hop and 1st overall for Division I 4-year college open. The 2011-2012 team hopes to defend their titles and be victorious in both divisions for the second year in a row. March 4th was the annual SDSU Dance Team Exhibition, where friends and family came to support and watch the team perform their two nationals routines in Peterson Gym. Auditions for the 2012-2013 team will be held on April 14th, 2012.
Men's Crew
Mens Crew team has participated in two events to start off the Spring Season. The Indoor Championships were held on January 28th, an event in which highlighted the fastest members of the team who raced on ergometers–indoor rowing machines. It was a great opportunity for the members to train together in a competitive environment. Our most recent event was City Championships on February 25th. This race has been a long-standing tradition between the universities that call Mission Bay home: USD, UCSD, and of course SDSU. Losses from both Varsity and Novice boats have given us all inspiration and hunger to improve as a team. After a winning fall season, this season we are looking forward to the potential and growth of the Novice 8+ A boat. The Novice 8+ won first place in many fall races such as Row for the Cure, San Diego Fall Classic, Head of the Marina, as well as placed 11th of 20 teams at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival. After taking the fall smester off, a reunited varsity team is looking forward to a strong competitive sprong season.
This race season team will be competing with its largest team in many years. The team is anxiously awaiting the Desert Sprints in Tempe, AZ, which will be our first substantial regatta. This race will provide new experiences for our Novice rowers and coxswains, as well as the ability to gauge our progress against teams of similar backgrounds and size.
Surf Team
San Diego Surf Team has competed in all four of their conference competitions as of February. With Two 1st. place finishes and Two 2nd. place finishes overall we rounded out enough points to crown us the 2011-2012 NSSA Southwest Conference Champs for the fourth year in a row.
Daniel Truax (longboard) and Marissa Shaw are two athletes on the team who have performed with outstanding talent. They have by made it to four Finals in a row, pushing our team to victory. The first surfer to mentionn is Daniel Truax who surf's longboard , and is new this year to the team but came out hungry for a win. The rest of the season holds for us the most important contests of the year. States and Nationals are ahead with State Championships taking place in Huntington beach March 9th-11th, and Nationals at Salt Creek in Dana Point on June 14th-17th. As three time state Champs we are looking to defend our title and go for a four-peat, while also setting up for our first National title since 2007.
The team will be going through some changes this summer with veterans such as Kevin Whatley, Colin Weinberg, Jon Howard, Chad Dime, Emily Wratschko, Ben Swift, and longboarder Dan Truax all graduating. However, there is an amazing group of students that will be left to take over the team people Like State Champion Doug Van Mierlo, SD local Josh Morse, and charger NIc Vaughan who will surely lead SDSU Surf Team to monumental success in the future. Also there is talk about a few very talented incoming freshman and transfers who will be great assetts to the team as well.
Men's Volleyball
San Diego State men's volleyball played USD twice last week, beating them in three games on Tuesday, and four games on Friday. The two wins pushed us to the top of our division with two more league matches to play. The next set of games will be against Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday, February 28th and UCSD on Thursday, March 8th. Both are home matches and will be played in Peterson gym starting at 8 PM. The team has three more tournaments this year. We will travel to Las Vegas in mid March, have league finals in late March, and go to Kansas City in early April for the national tournament. Doing well in Las Vegas and league finals will help the team receive a good seed for nationals where we will compete as a top team.
Men's Ultimate
The SDSU Men's Ultimate team has recorded results in its first three tournaments, and has seen lots of growth and success. Results include a seventh place finish at the Santa Barbara Invite (2-4), a sixth place finish at the President's Day Invite (5-3), and a ninth place finish at the Stanford Open (4-2). With an overall record of (11-9) on the season, the team is looking forward to the Irvine Invite in Irvine, CA and College Easterns in Wilmington, NC.
We also got a visit from some little Ultimate fans at our latest tournament. As part of an achievement about sportsmanship and team spirit, a local group of Cub scouts came out to watch the SDSU Men's Ultimate team at the President's Day Invite. Check out this picture of the Feds with Cub Scout Pack 975 Tigers Den!
Women's Soccer Club
SDSU Women's Soccer Club is riding high from an undefeated fall semester and is currently gearing up for spring training. According to Club President, Ashley Syme, the club is looking to take on up to an additional 15 players, and the potential players are currently trying-out.
Last season the team played past rivals USD, UC San Diego, UC Long Beach, CSU Fullerton, and UC Irvine. The club also participated in the UC Long Beach invitational, the NIRSA Regional tournament at Cal Poly, and earned a bid for the Championship Bracket at the NIRSA National Tournament where they finished ranked 12th in the nation. This season the club will be focusing on team-building while they play a limited set of scrimmages, as well as fundraising and philanthropic events. The team will be participating in “Fiesta De Futbol” in May presented by Red Bull.

Waterski/Wakeboard
by Andrew Whitehead
With temperatures rising and the first tournament of the spring season quickly approaching, the Waterski/Wakeboard team is in high gear to set ourselves up for success at the opener hosted by UC Davis March 31st –April 1st. About two weeks later, the second tournament is hosted by us at Imperial Lakes, roughly 100 miles east of San Diego, and finally the third is back up north near Sacramento for the Cal Poly Tournament in early May. Also with collegiate wakeboarding on the rise, we've made plans to attend those tournaments, and host one in the fall at Mission Bay! With several new faces added to the roster, on top of a largely new recruited team from the fall we have been focused on building talent and the ultimate goal of making Nationals in fall 2012, after just missing the cut this past fall. Whether you've been on the water your whole life or not at all, feel free to check us out. Ski-ya later!
Cycle/Triathlon
by Brian Bostenero
The SDSU Cycling and Triathlon Club was established in the mid to late 90s and has expanded to enjoy the company of mountain bikers, cyclocross racers, road cyclists, and triathletes of varying skill levels. We are strong believers in the more the merrier and accept anyone that wants to join the team. We have meetings at the beginning of each week, alternating between Mondays and Tuesdays. Training is the athlete's responsibility and the club does not have set training days, but many of the members of the team will get together for a group training session.
Because of the many sports that the club supports, the race season spans nearly two semesters. In the fall the mountain bikers and cyclocross racers have approximately two to three races a month beginning in September and ending in November. Road cycling and triathlons are conducted in the spring semester and follows the same pattern of two to three races a month with the season typically starting in January and ending in April. All the above races are registered by the athlete individually and transportation is also the responsibility of the athlete. However, we are big fans of carpooling so it's never a lonely drive.
Any questions can be directed to Thomas Schutt or through the Cylce/Triathlon website

Women's Lacrosse
The SDSU women's lacrosse club team was founded in 2006. It was created by a group of talented individuals who wanted to spread the game of lacrosse to southern California. Since then, the Women's Lacrosse team has had over 200 participants. Each year, the team strives to get to the western women's lacrosse league championships hosted by one of the schools in California. To get here, SDSU must beat everyone in their league to continue. Only the top 2 teams from each league can continue on. This year, we plan to win champs or at least move on to nationals which would be the farthest the SDSU team has ever gone. We love to add new members to our team, so if you would like to join, please visit the Women's Lacrosse website. Hopefully you can be a part of this awesome team and help us get to nationals!

Men's Crew Rows for the Cure
by Kason Fark
Mission Bay Aquatic Center- The San Diego State Men's Crew Club participated Halloween weekend in the 10th annual Row for the Cure hosted by the University of California Women's Crew team on Mission Bay. The Aztec rowers found success in their novice-eight, which won the collegiate men's novice category with a time of 14:29. The crew was stroked by Zach Zeidman and coxswained by Brittni Wellock.
San Diego row for the Cure was created in 2001 after UCSDs women's team lost an alumnus to breast cancer in the summer of that year. Since then, SD Row for the Cure has raised thousands of dollars to support area research as well as medical screening for uninsured women. SDSU Mens Crew Club donated over $200 by participating and purchasing Susan G. Komen Merchandise, which they proudly displayed during the race.
Men's Crew has had a great recruiting year, bringing on an excellent group of freshmen and transfer students who have exceeded expectations, despite never having rowed before. According to Coach Brian Robison 'This Novice crew has been putting in the work on and off the water, practicing hard and pushing each other to excel. Their performance this weekend is validation for all that hard work. I am very excited to see how this young team will do come racing season this spring.

Men's Ultimate
by David Richie
The Federalis compete in tournaments across the country. They plan to make Nationals in the upcoming season after their tremendous accomplishments made in 2011. After winning Sectionals and coming just short of last year's goals to win Regionals and move onto Nationals, the Feds are hungry and ready to give it another run in 2012. The Federalis have been a strong competitor in the Southwest Region for the past four years and plan on continuing to be an elite and competitive team in years to come. As for this year, the Federalis plan on going into top-notch beast-mode. The Feds are known to rely on the experience of their crafty veterans as well as the raw athleticism of their studly, young players. The Feds usually practice three times a week and have several tournaments throughout both fall and spring semester. Everyone is welcome to come play Ultimate regardless of experience, athleticism, or political views. There is both an A-team (The Federalis) and a B-team (The Luchadores). The B-team is for anyone just looking for some Ultimate Frisbee to play during their free time. B-team has the opportunity to travel to several tournaments along the California coast throughout the school year. The A-team is more competitive and won't be formed until the end of Fall semester. A-team will be selected based on performance at both practices and tournaments during the fall semester.

SDSU Men's Soccer Club Update
by Trevor Morrissey
As our season for the SDSU Men's Club soccer team comes to an end, we're satisfied to know we had a positive run this year. Both our A and B teams had winning seasons, and our A team capped theirs off with a solid run at the regional tournament over Halloween weekend. With a solid victory over UCLA, they moved to the semi's against Cal. After being tied at half 0-0, our players came out fired up and controlled from the start. However, Cal got a scrappy goal with 20 minutes left and turned the momentum around. Not long after that, Berkeley capitalized on a once in a lifetime free kick, putting the icing on the cake. While our Aztecs continued to battle and create chances during the remainder of the half, they were unable to put one away.
Looking back, the season was a successful one for the club as a whole. Our next stop is in Phoenix as we look to capture the title of Nationals Open Cup champions.
