SDSU Men's Ultimate Frisbee has been steadily improving in the past six years. Two years ago they reached the highest they ever have by finishing fifth in the region (Southern California, Arizona, and Colorado) and last year they set a new SDSU Ultimate record of most wins in a season with a 32-19 record. They hope to add to this success in the 2010 season, and have begun putting in the work now. Led by captains Tyler Crothers and JT Power, they are 12-1 with a tournament win in Long Beach and a finals loss at the annual Chico Ultimate Tournament this pre season. The tournament win is only the third in SDSU Ultimate history and has set the bar for what is in store this year.

The SDSU Cycling and Triathlon team have made huge strides in the last year, more than doubling in size and talent over previous years. Our athletes have made an impact on a national scale this year with mountain biker Garrett Eggert taking 17th in the nation in downhill at Mountain Bike Collegiate Nationals, road biker Logan Fielder finishing on the podium in almost every conference race he has competed, and triathlete Shaun Guest finishing on the podium in both collegiate and regional triathlons. The team’s biggest accomplishment this season was going from not having a full triathlon team last year, to finishing 45th in the nation at Triathlon Collegiate Nationals, bettering more than half the collegiate teams in the country. Look for us to come out strong in 2009/2010 and put Aztec Cycling and Triathlon back on the map.
April

Aztec Women's Lacrosse posses an amazing group of female athletes with so much heart and dedication to their sport and their teammates. Although a slow start at the beginning of the season, they have overcome to dominate in theWWLL conference. This group of women works hard six days a week and adapts to constructive criticism, to obtain the skill and knowledge in addition to the confidence that makes our wins possible. April 17-19, the team is headed to Santa Barbra for the WWLL Championships. They are currently undefeated in their division. The adoration for each player combined with compassion for lacrosse has created a family, with the ability to play amazingly fluid together as well as for each other.

The surf team is currently practicing for nationals at various beaches in San Diego County.

The women's water polo club team has just entered their first season this year with the Collegiate Water Polo Association. Although the team is very new they have high hopes for this semester. After their first two tournaments, the SDSU club team is already standing out in the pack. Currently holding a third place seating, the team is confident in making it to the National Championships.
December/January

The San Diego State surf team has been consistent amongst the top collegiate surf teams in California. Placing second in both State Championships and National Championships last year, the surf team opened up strong winning the first contest of the season. Currently the team is ranked fourth in California and has failed to fall out of the top five in over two years. The team also has numerous surfers who are ranked significantly high in the individual rankings. The team is currently practicing for this year’s state championships held in San Clemente, CA on March 6th.

The SDSU Dance Team began in the fall of 1998. Since then, the team has grown and is nationally ranked within the competitive collegiate dance community. The Dance Team entertains Aztec fans at all home football and basketball games as well as numerous campus, charity and corporate events city-wide. The team allows students with technical training to continue their passion for dance and contribute to the school spirit while pursuing their academic goals. Many of the graduates of this team have gone on to dance professionally. This year the team is comprised of 16 talented dancers from all across California and Arizona. Our team practices three times a week at the Aztec Recreation Center where we learn various materials for our performances, practice our dance technique, and rehearse for our competition season to begin. This year we are excited to be representing San Diego State at the USA College Nationals at the end of March. We also have the opportunity to perform for Carnival Cruise ships as nightly entertainment to Ensenada, Mexico. The SDSU Dance Team is excited for receiving Sports Club Team of the Month and looks forward to another promising year of entertaining it's fans!

The San Diego State Rugby team has had a great preseason. Beating both OMBAC, a local men's club team, and Colorado, a final four finalist, the Aztecs have had a very promising start to what looks like their best year yet. With several returning players, including three All-Americans, the team looks to once again make nationals and hopefully play in a final four game. Season starts next semester and the planning and training of this preseason will give the Aztecs its second league championship in two years.
