All services are free of charge, so call us today to schedule your appointment: 619-594-4133 (Health Promotion Dept.) or 619-594-0200 (The ARC).

Nutrition Peer Health Educators
PHE presentations are available for your classroom, residential hall, Fraternity/Sorority, or any other SDSU student function or event where you want to promote health education and wellness. Each presentation is 50 minutes long and PHEs will bring all needed materials for all in attendance. Please allow at least two-weeks advance notice for scheduling your presentation. Call us today to schedule your PHE presentation at 619-594-4133.

Nutrition PHE Presentation Topics Include:

Nutrition 101
This presentation covers the basics, and discusses the components of a healthy diet and why, as college students we should care about what we put into our bodies. This presentation includes two fun activities in which students “rate” their nutrition and brainstorm ways they can incorporate what they’ve just learned into their every day lives.

Healthy Eating on Campus
This presentation addresses the challenges students on this campus may face when trying to eat healthfully. It covers where you can find healthy options on campus, and how to make simple substitutions in your typical diet in order to improve your nutrition. This presentation also discusses other nutrition-related health behaviors that could lead students to gain weight (i.e. all you can eat buffet in the dining halls, late night snacking, and drinking). Perfect for freshman away from home for the first time!

Food and Mood
This presentation talks about how the foods you eat can affect your moods and vice versa. It addresses reasons besides hunger as to why we might eat, or overeat. Gives helpful tips on energizing exam foods, comfort foods and more. Includes two fun activities.

Fad Diets
This presentation covers many different types of fad diets, and why they are not the best choice for college students. Covers some of the most current/popular fad diets by grouping them into categories (i.e. high protein, low carbohydrate diets, liquid diets, etc.). Great information for college students to hear, as many college students try or resort to fad diets for a “quick fix”.
