About Aquaplex Youth Programs

About Us

Aztec Recreation provides high quality programs, services and facilities that inspire active, healthy living and enhance the SDSU experience. Aztec Recreation Aquaplex Youth Programs are based on the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Our certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors provide students of all ages and abilities with a positive and safe learning environment to develop and improve aquatic skills.

What to Expect

For students – Swimmers should have a swim suit, towel, and be ready to have fun in the water for every lesson. Goggles and caps are optional for all levels. We highly recommended wearing sunscreen and additionally rash guard shirts are allowed for all classes except Intro to Springboard Diving (*for safety purposes).

For parents – Parents are required to accompany their children starting from swim lesson check in and remain at the facility during their child’s lesson for safety and security reasons. For safety purposes, child “drop off” is not allowed, and any children dropped off will not be allowed into the facility. Parents may watch lessons from the bleachers or pool deck area. Only children enrolled in the Youth Program classes are allowed in the pool with an Aquaplex Aquatic Instructor and only during their designated class time. However, we encourage parents to return with their children during our available Family Swim Aquaplex Hours.

Wait List

In the event that a class is full, there is an option of being put on a waiting list. Individuals on the wait list are contacted if a space becomes available to enroll in the course. There is a 24-hour policy for the waiting list; if we do not hear back within 24 hours of placing a call, the next available person will fill the space in the class. Depending on the day of the call relative to the session day, the class price may be prorated accordingly.
