High Ropes Course Training at Camp Stevens

Only students registered in ENS 138 may register for this training.

Challenge Ropes Courses and Teambuilding programs are intended to help groups build relationships, develop effective communication skills, examine group roles, develop their leadership skills, and increase trust and bonding among group members. By registering for the ENS 138 Teambuilding & Ropes Course Class not only will you be a part of this dynamic group, but you will learn to lead groups through the stages of group development. Throughout this course we will be focusing on how to facilitate and plan out a Team Challenge Program. This course is designed as an introductory course for those who are new to facilitating programs. It is a dynamic workshop to educate those in the knowledge of Team Challenge Theories and Philosophies, Challenge by Choice, Full Value Contract, the Experiential Learning Cycle, and Situational Leadership; just to name a few.

This course is an introduction to sequencing, framing and executing challenge activities that consist of an extensive range of activities appropriate for a wide range of ages and differing group sizes.  Developing ground activities and trust building activities will be your stepping stool to advance to the low and high elements of our Ropes Course.

The icing on the proverbial cake: our Julian weekend. This weekend is the grand finale of our Beginning Ropes Course Class as we will head up to Julian and stay at the beautiful Camp Stevens. Prepare for in-depth discussions, wide-spread activities, challenging courses, delicious food, and a great time! During this weekend we will be mostly over at the two self-challenging High Ropes Courses that Camp Stevens has to offer. These ropes courses are between 30 and 50 feet above the ground and constructed partly in trees, partly of utility poles and require a belay system. This is a great experience where you will be able to further improve your leadership technique and personal development.
