Aztecs Successful in Colorado

back to main

The Aztecs lost to #1 Colorado State in Fort Collins Thursday night by the score of 10-2. There was hopes to be a different story against #10 Texas A&M in Boulder on Friday evening. The Aztecs never gained the lead only coming close late in the third period with the puck ringing off the post for the tie.  After two frustrating losses, the Aztecs goal was to score goals and never look back. Saturday afternoon the guys drove up to Greeley getting on the train early and rolling on to an 8-1 victory. Early Sunday morning seemed to be hard for all the players to get up for a 10am game. It would appear that early morning issue was not an issue for all of the guys as they took a 3-0 lead going into the second against #5 Colorado. Something sparked on the Boulder bench and cut the Aztecs lead to 3-2 in the second. They tied it up at 6:47 in the period as the Aztecs bench became aggrivated with penalties and missed calls. Hard work, grit, and determination is what the guys had to pull off the win. At 1:28 the Aztecs took the lead and sealed the win at :22 with the empty net goal.

#7 San Diego State will play #8 Long Beach State this weekend in San Diego at the Kroc Center on Friday December 10th @ 9:00pm and on Saturday December 11th @ 9:30pm in Lakewood at the Glacial Gardens Skating Arena to finish off the semester.
