Sport Clubs
The SDSU Sport Club Program consists of 16 competitive collegiate club teams. Each club team is developed, organized, and managed by students with guidance from the Intramural & Sport Club Coordinator, the Asst. Intramural & Sport Club Supervisor and club team coaches. The emphasis for sport club activities is leadership. Sport Clubs thrive only by obtaining active student involvement and participation from club team leaders and its members.

NEWSLETTER
The SDSU Surf Team started off with a bang at our first contest on the 17th and 18th of October. The team had to wait around for a bit to begin their first round due to a 3 hour fog delay. Once the fog cleared up, Blacks provided fun 3 to 5 foot waves. For the A team, not one surfer lost out until the third round. Four of the six shortboarders would move on to the quarter finals. For the B team, Colin Weinberg and Devon Dolan were standouts for the shortboard along with Amanda Camarato and Jessie Janes for the girls. Due to the 3 hour fog delay, NSSA was unable to finish the contest. It will be finished on November 7th in Huntington Beach which is also when our next contest will be. All of our girls, both A and B team, are still going in the comp. Drew Irons and Andrew Gahan will surf their quarter final heat first thing in the morning on the 7th. I was able to surf my quarter final heat at blacks and will be surfing in the Repercharge heat in Huntington. Another A team shortboard standout is freshman Doug Van Mierlo. Doug surfed very well in his first college contest making it to the quarter finals. A team longboarder Chris Koernor advanced in his quarterfinal heat and will be surfing in longboard repercharge. Allie Brown and Emily Wratschko will be surfing in their quarter final heats for the A team in Huntington. Out of the 9 surfers for the A team, 7 are still in the contest. Gayline Clifford at NSSA informed me this week that SDSU is in the lead and is likely to take the win for the first contest. Thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to all our sponsors: Rip Curl, Monster, Bully's, Sanuk, and Surf Ride. Our next contest will be November 7th and 8th at 9th street in HB.
