The Backpacking ENS 138 course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of backpacking. Students will attend six, one hour and 40 minute classroom sessions that include lecture and various related activities. Students will learn about the various types of backpacking, equipment, techniques, camping ethics/etiquette, trip planning/execution, map & orienteering skills, safety management & leadership theory. Students are required to attend a three or four day instructor-approved weekend adventure with Aztec Adventures. The Registration Fee of the weekend adventure ranges from $300 to $389 depending on the chosen trip.
