This course will provide the student with intermediate skills and knowledge necessary to participate in Judo safely. Beginning competition strategy and tactics will be expanded. Intermediate skill instruction and application of Nage-waza (Throwing), Osae-waza (Grappling/Submission), with progressive drills and Randori (Free Exercise) are practiced. In addition to new skills and techniques, students will be required to demonstrate greater proficiency in basic skills and techniques covered in the Beginning Judo course. Students will be eligible to test for the next Judo belt rank during the semester.
All Aztec Recreation ENS Judo courses examine the theory and techniques of Kodokan & Kosen Judo. Classes also identify the difference in contest rules between IJF Judo (Olympic) and the Freestyle Judo movement. Content focuses on skills required to develop confidence and skill in the worlds most played martial art sport. Students should expect to fall, grab, throw, and practice joint locks, pins and chokes.
