The course begins with a review of basic Standing poses, Forward bends and Back bends. We will then build upon those fundamentals leading to more intermediate poses. The length of stay will also increase to maximize the benefits. Emphasis and focus will also be upon their basic structure and alignment which is essential for building a fundamentally sound intermediate practice. Following this development of these basic yogic ideas and practices’ which takes approximately one-half of the class, the remainder of the class address’ the sequence for inversions which are preparations for ’Beginning’ Shoulder Stand and Head Stand’. Specific step-by-step instructions will be given to assure that all poses especially the inverted poses are done properly and executed safely. We will also learn and express the names of the poses in Sanskrit and their transliteration into English.
