League Descriptions
OPEN LEAGUES
Open Leagues are leagues in which those who identify as male, female, or another gender identity can participate on the team with no rules limiting the number of male or female participants.WOMEN'S
Women’s Leagues are leagues in which the entire team is made up of those who identify as female.CO-REC
Co-Rec Leagues are leagues in which there are specific number requirements for Males and Females on the playing surface at a given time along with some specialized rules that are enforced to increase fairness and equality within the game.MEN’S
Men’s Leagues are leagues in which the entire team is made up of those who identify as male.GREEK
Greek Leagues are leagues in which all the members of the team must be current pledges or members of the organization.

Leagues
BASKETBALL
Two teams of five attempt to score more points than the opponent by shooting the ball into the opposing team’s basket. The game is played on a standard sized court and abides by NFHS Basketball rules.DODGEBALL
The objective of dodgeball is to eliminate the opposing team by throwing and hitting a member of the opposing team below the shoulders with a ball. Team’s consist of five members and the game is played on a hardwood court within a defined boundary.FUTSAL
Two teams of five attempt to score a modified soccer ball in the opposing team’s goal while playing within the boundaries of a basketball court. The variations of the the rules can be viewed on our website.FLAG FOOTBALL
Flag Football is a non-contact version of American Football that is typically played in 7-on-7 (open/men’s/women’s) or 8-on-8 (CoRec) formats. The game is played on an 80-yard field and features some rules variations that can be found on our website.INDOOR SOCCER
i) Indoor Soccer is similar to that of Futsal as it is played on the same court with a similar game ball with the main difference being that teams are made of 6 players instead of 5 and the ball is able to be played off of the walls.KICKBALL
Teams of 10 players alternate batting and fielding as they try to score by kicking a ball in order to get on base or advance other players across home plate. Similar to the rules of baseball, after 3 outs teams switch sides and the pitching team then has an opportunity to score.SOCCER
Two teams of 9 players try to score by kicking a ball in the opposing team’s goal. The game is available to be played at recreational, competitive, CoRec and greek formats for players at different skill levels.SOFTBALL
Slow pitch softball is played between two teams of 10 with teams alternating between hitting and fielding. The hitting team attempts to score by hitting the ball and getting on base while advancing runners across home plate.SPIKEBALL
Two teams of two stand on opposite sides of an elastic outstretched net as they alternate hitting a small rubber ball to their opponents. A team has three attempts to hit the ball against the net towards their opponent’s side and if they fail to do so their opponent is awarded a point.TENNIS
Players are given the opportunity to play in singles or doubles matches in a competitive yet friendly environment. The leagues that are offered include advanced, beginner, women’s only singles and mixed (co-ed) doubles.ULTIMATE
Ultimate Frisbee™ is played with 7 players on each team and uses the flag football playing area on our outdoor surfaces. Ultimate is self-officiated or can use an observer during more competitive play. A disc for gameplay will be provided.VOLLEYBALL
Follows standard volleyball rules as two teams of six attempt to win two out of the three games by being the first team to score 25 points.INNERTUBE WATER POLO
Innertube water polo is an alternative to traditional water polo with the biggest difference being that all participants must sit in an innertube while participating. Teams of six attempt to score points by maneuvering a ball and shooting it into the opponent’s goal.Tournaments
3 ON 3 BASKETBALL
3 on 3 is a variation of the game and rules of basketball as two teams of three play best to 25 points. The rules and court are modified as the game is played on one half of a basketball court. For a full list of rules please view our website.4 ON 4 FLAG FOOTBALL
A variation of standard flag football as teams are comprised of 4 members and have 3 attempts to achieve a first down. Games are played on an 80-yard field and variations to the rules may be found on our website.BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Beach volleyball is similar to indoor volleyball but teams are comprised of four members and the game is played on the sand. The match is decided by the winner of two of the three games with each game being the decided by the first to 25 points with a two point lead necessary to win.BATTLESHIP
Teams of 4 operate a canoe and attempt to sink the opposing teams canoes by filling them with water. Teams are given 2 buckets, a cup to bail water and a kickboard to block water from filling your canoe. The last canoe afloat advances to the next round.FLAG FOOTBALL REGIONAL QUALIFIER
Teams of 7 compete against one another in a standard flag football game with the winner advancing to the next round. The winner of both rounds continues onward to the NIRSA Regional Tournament where they represent SDSU as they play against teams from other universities.BASKETBALL REGIONAL QUALIFIER
Teams of 5 compete against one another in a standard basketball game with winners advancing onward. The winner of both rounds represent SDSU as they continue to the NIRSA Regional Tournament as they play against teams from other universities.DODGEBALL
Teams of 5 play in single-elimination style tournament with the team winning the best of three matches advancing to the next round.FUTSAL
Teams of 5 play amongst each other in this single-elimination style tournament. Standard Futsal rules apply.BASKETBALL

Golf can be played in a variety of formats including match play or stroke play and singles or teams of 2-4 players per team. Each event will specify a course for play and the specific rules for that tournament.KICKBALL

Innertube Water Polo is played with teams of 6 players each. The sport is played at the Aquaplex very similarly to regular water polo, however all players are required to be using an inner tube to stay afloat during play.WATER VOLLEYBALL
