Group Fitness Policies

  • For safety reasons, Aztec Recreation may deny participation to patrons who do not follow ARC guidelines, who arrive 5 minutes after the start of class, or who arrive after class has reached maximum capacity.
  • GROUP FITNESS REGISTRATION: Participants may register for group fitness classes 7 days in advance up to 15 minutes prior to the start of class. 
  • GROUP FITNESS CANCELLATION POLICY: If you need to cancel your registration, the deadline is 30 minutes prior to the Group Fitness class start time.
  • GROUP FITNESS NO SHOW POLICY: You may cancel on the Aztec Recreation app, online at arconline.sdsu.edu or you can visit or call the Aztec Recreation Center at 619.594.7529. Those registered for a class who no show (or arrive later than 5 minutes after the start of class) three times in one semester will lose group fitness registration privileges for one month.
  • Individuals who purchase a visit pass are not eligible to make a reservation for class but they may attend a group fitness class if there is space available. Plan to arrive early to class to show your ID and visit pass to the instructor and if there is space available, the instructor may be able to allow entry to class.
  • No outside weights permitted in any Fitness Studio.
  • Only authorized personnel are allowed to operate stereo equipment.
  • Personal belongings (gym bag, book bag, back pack, duffel bag, purse, clothing, shoes, and/or other possessions) should be properly stored in a locker or cubby.
  • Wipe down equipment after use. Gym wipes available.
  • No food or drink (other than plastic water bottles) is allowed.
  • Shirts must be worn at all times. Clothing displaying profane or offensive materials, belts, jeans and rivets are prohibited.
  • Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes must be worn at all times, except for supervised yoga, pilates, and barre classes.
  • Only authorized personnel are allowed to conduct Personal Training in this facility.
  • Aztec Recreation facilities and programs are alcohol, drug, tobacco and narcotics free. Anyone possessing or suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or another substance shall be asked to leave.
  • Use of obscenity, lewd, obscene or indecent behavior, insulting language, fighting, aggressive/threatening behavior, and swearing are prohibited. Harassment, taunting, bullying and/or hazing of other members or staff are prohibited.
  • The use of any equipment that takes still or moving pictures including video tape recorders, smart phones and movie cameras are prohibited inside Aztec Recreation facilities.
  • Aztec Recreation is not responsible for stolen items. Members are encouraged to contact University Police at 594-1991 to report stolen items.
  • Aztec Recreation reserves the right to change or amend these policies as deemed necessary for the safety and functionality of the facility, program or activity. Compliance with Aztec Recreation staff is expected at all times. Failure to comply with staff and interpreted policies may result in suspension or termination of membership. Aztec Recreation reserves the right to refuse service.
