CLASS TYPE: Dance/Strength


Next Level Barre takes classic barre movements and turns up the challenge. This full-body sculpt class focuses on small, controlled movements to strengthen and tone your legs, glutes, arms, and core while improving balance and stability. Each section of class builds like a new level, pushing you to refine your form, increase endurance, and feel the burn in all the right places. All fitness levels are welcome. Options are provided so you can level up at your own pace and finish class feeling strong, energized, and accomplished.

Makayla is an undergraduate student at SDSU majoring in Criminal Justice. Makayla has loved sports and fitness since the day she was born, growing up playing soccer, basketball, softball, and taekwondo. She holds a Third-Degree Black Belt in taekwondo and began teaching fitness back home in 2021 by teaching martial arts and fitness kickboxing classes to both children and adults! She obtained her ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification after completing the ENS 138 Group Fitness Instructor Training course. Makayla now loves to spend her time running (currently doing marathon training), working out, spending time with family, and being at the beach. She believes fitness should be something that people enjoy and look forward to, which is what she hopes students feel after taking her classes. She is also a firm believer in the importance of self-defense and hopes to implement more self-defense classes into the Group Fitness class schedule!
